Currently, I am working in ST Enginnering - NTU Corporate Lab and I am in charge of the project "Vision-based Autonomous Navigation for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in the Urban Environment". This is a collaborative project between NTU and Singapore Technology Aerospace. ST Aerospace has developed a UAV targeting at goods delivery, but only can be manuvoured by tele-operation. As a research engineer at NTU, I am working on providing an autonomous navigation solution for ST Aerospace.Specifically, my job duties are,1. Development of a light weight stereo vision system for real-time obstacle detection. 2. A modified semi-global matching (SGM) algorithm with temporal domain filtering is used to produce 3D point cloud data to indicate obstacles;3. GPU-based implementation of the SGM algorithm is developed and deployed in NVIDIA TX1 embedded platform;4. Currently, I am working on the research and development of Visual Odometry (VO) and keyframe-based Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithm for UAV localization; 5. The navigation system is developed under Robot Operation System (ROS) in Ubuntu 14.04;
