- Gene Regulation Unit- Project: In-depth functional analysis of heterochromatin protein 1 in the human malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum (PfHP1).- Developed reverse genetic approaches using CRISPR/Cas9 and DiCre:LoxP system to conditionally regulate knock-out/knock-in events, through that investigated the function of PfHP1 domains and PfHP1 phosphorylation. - Designed, generated and characterised a series of mutant cell lines (PfHP1-KO, -truncations, -hybridizations, -point mutations) using cellular, immuno-biochemical assays and immunofluorescent technique. - Designed and cloned plasmids/vectors for various purposes including recombinant protein expression.
