About Hailey Alemán
I graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Sustainability and a minor in Minority, Indigenous, and Third World Studies. I currently serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia, working with communities to promote sustainable agriculture and increase crop yields. Until recently, I also served as an Educational Volunteer at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, teaching visitors about global and public health, and am excited to resume this role upon my return to the States.Recently, I worked with Casey Trees as a Community Outreach Coordinator, where I worked with partners and community members to equitably engage people outdoors and promote tree planting opportunities. Prior, I worked as a Sustainability Project Assistant with Metro, where I managed a database tracking energy-efficiency projects and helped establish a new educational program.I believe that we are never done learning and improving ourselves, and I am always looking to expand my horizons and develop further skills in public outreach, equitable engagement, and project management. Like an explorer, I am excited to build upon my previous experience, my desire to advance equity, and my passion for acquiring knowledge--a passion kindled in forest hikes in my youth, forays into nesting gull colonies off the coast of Maine, and my interactions with diverse people from all corners of the globe.
