It is suggested that this space be used to showcase experience, education, and achievements; but all of these things can be found on my profile already, and are not the things that represent who I am. I am a Social Worker, I am a daughter, a friend, a sister, an advocate, an ally. I am a first generation college graduate who came from a single parent, low income household in a small, rural town. I have lived experiences similar to the populations we serve, and have gained empathy and understanding that I believe is essential in this field. I believe in change, social justice, policy reform, leadership, acceptance, inclusion, equal opportunity, representation, and diversity.I value kindness, forgiveness, honesty, and acceptance. I plan to use my voice, my privilege, my education, and my experience to create change.These are the things that make me, me. These are the things that I believe are the most important in this field and when working with the populations we serve. While I acknowledge that other skills I possess such as reliability, organization, self-management, and dependability are immensely important for an employee to demonstrate and showcase, I believe that as a Social Worker, the most important things to display are our ethics, morals, and dedication to advocacy. I am hopeful to build my career hand in hand with an organization who embodies the same values and beliefs, that will enable me to continue to incorporate these qualities into my work.
