Summer StudentTemerty Faculty Of Medicine, University Of Toronto Jul 2024 - PresentHealth sciences program to experience diverse medical skills and professions. As one of the 50 selected students, I completed hands-on workshops in surgical skills with suturing kits; practiced inserting heart stents to open clogged blood vessels [Toronto General Hospital]; sheep eye dissection and body/skeleton anatomy; measured and mixed ingredients in the Pharmacy Laboratory, medication manufacturing facilities; extracted DNA from strawberries as an example of diagnosing Genetic Disorders for Genetic Counselling]; Gene editing and CRISPR technology and the bioethics of molecular genetics; and how Flow Cytometry via stem cells technology helped develop COVID-19 rapid antigen tests to diagnose patients. Practiced on robot patients in a nurse simulation lab. The CEAL [Challenging Environmental Assessment Laboratory] Facility has 4 state-of-the-art simulation laboratories named StreetLab, DriverLab, StairLab and WinterLab to improve lives and prevent injuries by testing pharmaceuticals, assistive devices, bright clothing, footwear, and other products and technologies. Designed an innovative solution, PowerFlex, a 3-D printed exoskeleton that can help more patients rehabilitate through a cheaper, stronger and sleek product. My group project and presentation were evaluated by a panel of judges, which included professors from the University of Toronto. PowerFlex placed in the top 5, showcasing its potential to help rehabilitate patients in regaining their mobility in lower back and knee support, ankle mobility so they can stand and walk. Addressed the issue of accessibility and affordability in medical devices by identifying gaps in material, design and competitor products to improve it through 3-D printing with a lower cost, stronger and lighter material. Our research process used EMG medical tools (electromyography, electrodes and monitor) to monitor nerve and muscle tests helped improve our design. -

Summer Robotics ChallengeFirst Robotics Canada Jul 2022 - Aug 2022First Robotics Summer Institute challenge. In the challenge I built an entire robot from scratch, using many pieces of metals and screws. Programmed robot through code to make the robot and arm move remotely through a cell phone connected to a joystick. It was a great experience that challenged me to inquire, research, learn independently and work collaboratively with my school peers to successfully build a robot and program it to move. -
