In this role, I work on a variety of projects and initiatives within our Livestock Marketing department. My primary functions as a Business Analyst and Administrator involve: information collection and administration; data tracking, analysis, and presentation; program planning and material development; research; financial transaction processing and assistance; reading about and disseminating information to employees on CME futures, market results, government data, agricultural news and policies, etc.; and any other support deemed necessary by the Executive VP of Livestock Marketing. I also work closely with our livestock sales team and Risk Management team.Additionally, I have retained many of my responsibilities I acquired in my previous position, including: my role in one of our livestock contracting partnerships, and my role in one of our largest order-buying relationships. I assume some to all of the responsibilities listed above for my role in these relationships, as well as: customer relations, communication, inventory reporting, contract management, and price tracking/analysis.Due to my successful cross-training during my Trainee role, I am able to and have spent considerable time covering for our Accounting/Centralization Specialist position and our Risk Management Administrator position, as well.As the first Business Trainee for my company, I now, too, am helping to develop a company-wide trainee initiative/program, in which all new, full-time employees would partake and experience to some extent.Also - due to my extensive and successful exposure to and with the Accounting department, I assisted in recruiting for, developing training materials and a training plan for, coordinating/scheduling for, and training two new Accounting/Centralization Specialists.

Most of my first six months were spent training and working in Accounting/Centralization, and learning the role of an Accounting/Centralization Specialist. During this time, I was in our corporate office processing financial transactions and information, and working in/learning about Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Bookkeeping.I also assisted with equipment/software installs and training at some of our auction/branch locations in Illinois and Ohio.This time in the Accounting department gave me an opportunity to ask questions about the company and learn about the kind of business we do.Additionally, I spent time with salesmen/procurement agents, facility managers, office managers, and supervisors at our branches and on the road to observe processes and learn more about the company as a whole. My travels included Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan.I also began assisting with a livestock contracting partnership, which became a part of my new role with UPI. Specifically, I was and am handling UPI’s role on the data collection, inventory/contract reporting, and producer submission side for this particular relationship.The last 1-2 months in the trainee position I learned the Risk Management Administrator role, which involves work with packer contracts and hedging. More specifically, this includes calling on contracts/hedges; administrative components of contract documentation; handling pricing and kill information; consignor and salesman communication; etc. While training, I learned more about RM and trade as a whole, and its important part in our company and industry.Lastly, I did some brief training within our Credit department (PCC), shadowing Loan Officers and our Underwriter, and learning about the important services our Credit department provides to our business as well as our customers.
