As an administrative intern with the City of El Cajon in the Public Works department, my tasks include but are not limited to: answering phone calls from the public, responding to emails on behalf of the city's public works department, handling inquiries related to sewer billing, government-issued permits, infrastructure, etc., processing mail, submitting payroll, utilizing the office printer and scanner, and assisting people who come to the office's front desk. I have attended city… Show more As an administrative intern with the City of El Cajon in the Public Works department, my tasks include but are not limited to: answering phone calls from the public, responding to emails on behalf of the city's public works department, handling inquiries related to sewer billing, government-issued permits, infrastructure, etc., processing mail, submitting payroll, utilizing the office printer and scanner, and assisting people who come to the office's front desk. I have attended city council meetings and worked personally with city council administration attendees (such as the City Manager or the Director of Public Works). I am on the Public Relations committee and work with my colleagues to schedule meetings and organize goals related to PR (such as submitting a formal staff report to City Council, preparing a presentation for city council to propose new PR goals, and scheduling social media postings or organize other forms of community outreach). I work as an administrative intern part-time (about 16-20 hours per week) while enrolled in 20 units at the University of California, San Diego, as I work towards earning my Bachelors Degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Economy and Society in June of 2020.
