Deputy Clerk
Current•Complete a variety of daily clerical duties, including the processing and organizing of confidential legal mental health documents; maintain accurate, up-to-date records of up to one thousand files per month•Manage scheduling of hearing dates for requested respondents; Appoint counsel; Send out Notices of Hearing; Docket preparation for Involuntary Commitment hearings for up to seven facilities in Mecklenburg County•Review, collate, and present Special Proceedings Confidential files for signature for District Court judges for Involuntary Commitment hearings; process and distribute related documents upon judge approval•Attend, record, and log court proceedings; Administer oaths during court; Develop close working relationships with multiple judges, attorneys, and hospital staff that attend court hearings•Responsible for daily operational task including attending, recording and logging court proceedings, administering court oaths, and bi-monthly Commitment Committee meetings involving multiple city and government agencies•Oversee six mental health facilities regarding scheduling, legal documents, and docket preparation in Mecklenburg County•Review, collate, and present special proceedings confidential files for signatures of District Court judges for Involuntary Commitment hearing processes•Work daily with the courts and judges to process and distribute any and all related documents that have been authorized•Manage, track and update policy regarding daily inquiries with regards to the public, hospital staff, attorneys, District Court judges, and clerks state-wide•Train new and existing personnel on methods and techniques to perform operational tasks, court proceeding, special proceedings, and managing daily inquiries •Stay current on North Carolina’s Special Proceedings rules and familiarized with N.C.G.S. 122c in order to process, maintain, and accurately organize thousands of documents monthly for the permanent depository in the General Court of Justice
