I worked in coordination with my direct supervisor, the publishing team, and the Editors-in-Chief to develop and implement the strategy for the journal in response to the needs of our diverse research community. I was tasked with ensuring that our editors had the resources they needed to see submissions through the peer review process, while maintaining the scientific integrity of the journal product. This required me to cultivate relationships with our editors across the globe, plan and implement projects designed to improve journal operational capacity and contributor services, and maintain journal outreach through conference attendance, social media engagement, and preparing the written material for publishing initiatives. Part of the author services that I provided also included English copy-editing for authors from low and middle income countries that could not afford third party language editing services.

Greater Los Angeles Area

I completed a year long internship in the M.A.S.T Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai. During my internship, I honed a number of skills ranging from microbiology experimental techniques to journal reviews and research presentations. I was entrusted with completing complex experiments for larger research projects that later went to publication in major scientific journals. From following experiments from inception to completion, I gained a strong understanding of what is required to successfully manage and implement a project, as well as the most effective way to communicate those findings to an audience both within the scientific community and beyond.
