Indigenous Consultation Advisor, Project And Environmental Review
Current• Plan and conduct Indigenous consultation for port authority or tenant-led development projects, land use plan, and other strategic initiatives.• Develop, implement, and review consultation plans for projects that require an environmental assessment pursuant to the Impact Assessment Act and when appropriate, aligns with the BC Environmental Assessment Act.• Work with a cross-functional team to consider all aspects of port development projects and other initiatives and recommends whether consultation is required.• Work closely with contractors on engagement and consultation activities.• Work closely with relevant port authority departments on known Indigenous issues to ensure they are addressed appropriately through the consultation process.• Apply existing legal principles and factors to the analysis of Indigenous consultation.• Monitor and analyze evolving legislation, case law and applicable policy as it may affect port authority Indigenous consultation processes and advises management.• Track and record all Indigenous consultation activities in accordance with port authority practice and appropriate federal, provincial, or other applicable standards.• Provide Indigenous consultation advice and guidance.• Represent the port authority at meetings with Indigenous groups and may participate in meetings with local, provincial, and federal government representatives, as well as port tenants.• Ensure appropriate coordination with the port authority project and environmental review processes as they relate to Indigenous consultation or engagement.• Provide recommendations for participation funding to be provided to Indigenous groups.• Research and prepare briefing notes, summary reports, letters and other materials as needed.
