Each day will always bring a new adventure when you’re with a child, as there is always something to learn from them. Every child learns and progresses differently, but that does not mean we cannot help them fulfil their potential. My goal as an aspiring early childhood educator, to bring the best out of every child through the means of fun !I am Mohammad Haiqal, currently a Year 3 student pursuing the diploma of Child Psychology and Early Education in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Through the modules I have taken and my overall learning journey, my experience has been fulfilling and although I may still be fresh meat in this industry, it won’t stop me from wanting learn from my peers and mentors, from seeking new knowledge to be a better educator each day.I have been given the opportunity to experience 2 years of Field Practicum experience, playing the role of an assistant teacher. Through these experiences, I have learnt proper ways of documenting my observations of children. I managed to plan and craft multiple lesson plans, implement and facilitated three lessons for the children. As an assistant teacher in the class, I will find every opportunity to help my mentor in the class and even ask her for constructive feedback after my lessons. These provides me with opportunities and ideas to improve my craft in the classroom. I thrive in my social and interpersonal skills and with my good listening skills, I find it easy for me to understand and relate to the people around me. My peers described me as an expressive and vocal people-person, empathic and caring with a good sense of humour. I have a range of leadership experiences, taking on major roles in secondary school, as the President of the Student Council, and in polytechnic as well, currently the President of NP’s Malay Cultural Club. These appointments gave me opportunities to plan many events of both smaller (school-based events: eg. Teachers’ Day) and larger scales (Theatrical Productions).With a heart to give back to the community, I have experiences volunteering. I spent 2 years giving back to my secondary school as an alumni officer in NPCC, helping to develop these secondary students through the education of soft and hard skills. Last year, I volunteered to make over the house of a needy family, cleaning and repainting to give their home a fresher look.I still have a long way to go in this industry, but I believe that with my vibrant character, comprehensive skill set and resilience in wanting to learn new things, I will be a valuable asset to my future employers !
