I earned my PhD degree from the School of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Sciences (SFAAS, Aquatic Microbiology Laboratory) at Auburn University, Auburn, AL, USA. My previous degrees are a bachelor's degree in veterinary medical sciences and a master's degree in Fish Diseases and Management from the School of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt. I was the Lab Manager of the SFAAS Fish Disease/Diagnostics Lab, Southeastern Cooperative Fish Disease Project as well. I am a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian (CertAqV) by the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association (WAVMA) Credentialing Committee and the WAVMA Executive Board. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor of Fish Diseases and Management in the Department of Animal Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Egypt, and a Senior Scientist-Fish Health at CATC, Canada. My research interests lie in the vital area of aquatic animal health, particularly focused on finfish diseases.I have spent most of my professional life teaching and conducting research at Assiut University, Egypt, and at Auburn University, USA. I taught lab classes of Fish Diseases and Management course to 4th-year veterinary students from 2004 to 2010 and am currently teaching Microbial Diseases of Fish to undergraduates (5th-year veterinary students) and Non-infectious Diseases of fish at the graduate level (Masters students). During my time in Auburn, I have accumulated a strong record of research achievements and have authored 20+ peer-reviewed publications.
