Hakim Asadi is the founder of Beyond Living and a passionate advocate for holistic well-being. He holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University at Albany and is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in New York State. Hakim’s extensive experience includes supporting individuals navigating HIV/AIDS, mental health challenges, and substance use. He is also a certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Bridges Out of Poverty Trainer, and Life Coach.Hakim played a pivotal role in The New York Model for Batterer’s Program in Albany and Schenectady, NY, addressing intimate partner relationship violence. In recognition of his contributions, he received the 2018 In Our Own Voices’ LGBT POC Health and Human Service Award. He has also served as a board member for Hometown Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center, and The Damien Center, a community hub for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.As a 2019 alumnus of the New Leaders Council Fellowship and a former adjunct professor of Social Work at Siena College, Hakim combines his leadership, social work expertise, and lived experiences as a Black man to inspire others. He is dedicated to fostering open-minded and open-hearted leadership through his classes and workshops.Outside of his professional pursuits, Hakim enjoys meaningful connections with friends and family, engaging in intellectual conversations, and creating supportive spaces for those in need.
