I work with biomedical researchers and other stakeholders to create new organizations, consortia, and initiatives, to seek funding, to organize meetings and workshops, and to communicate the power of research to improve human health. I combine a very wide familiarity with biomedical research (particularly in precision and personalized medicine, genetics, genomics and other omics, psychiatry, neurology, neuroscience) with a wide international network of relationships with researchers and leaders in academia, industry, and government. Among my current projects is the creation of a collaborative structure across the Nordic countries for precision medicine research. We have begun by founding the Nordic Society of Human Genetics and Precision Medicine, and are working with other stakeholders across the region to build a research infrastructure that can serve precision medicine.I previously spent 25 years as an independent consultant in non-research capacities in biomedical research, with a focus on neuroscience and central nervous system disorders. I have organized many high-level conferences, most at the Banbury Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where I spent 9 years, but also other venues. I have overseen science communication for a range of audiences. Among my policy experience, I served on the US National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Council and its Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) Workgroup and Genetics Workgroup (2013-2018). In addition, I represented NIMH on the National Institutes of Health’s Council of Councils (2014-2018).
