Recent Activities and Community Focus:Hal Brookins - Currently retired and has been a certified volunteer business mentor with SCORE Greater Seattle Chapter since March 16, 2012. Served 2 years as Chapter Chair FY2013 - 2014. During that time he was responsible for writing a grant to establish 4 branches in South Snohomish County, Kitsap County, East of Lake Washington, and Southeast Seattle (Rainier Valley.) Have been the Branch Manager of the Rainier Branch since 2015. Rainier Valley mainly consists of one zip code, 98118. There are 98 different languages and dialects spoken by the residents. Other branch community contributions include Past Board Member, Rainier Chamber of Commerce, and Member of Rainier Beach Merchants Association. Annual community-specific activities are Bridge-to-Beach Clean Up, Rainier Chamber Gala and Scholarship Auction, BAMFEST (Rainier Beach Arts and Music Festival,) STP Beach Hydration Station (to support Seattle-to-Portland bicycle riders, Rainier Beach High School Homecoming Barbeque, Light Up the Beach, and Rainier Heritage Parade and Festival. Past work experience: Prior to retirement, h spent 30+ years in sales and marketing with various management-level positions for Herman Miller, Inc. The primary focus, capital goods sales within the government sector (GSA, DoD, State, Local, Higher Education, and Non-Profits.) Herman Miller, Inc. is respected as a 100+-year-old company known for its culture of inclusion, diversity, and environmental sustainability.
