For the last 23 years, I have worked for Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services. My jobs have included working at two Mental Health Clinics (7.5 years) with profoundly mentally ill adults, combining both individual therapy as well as case management skills. My population has been with adults struggling with issues of trauma, substance abuse, homelessness, and the impact of mental health on self-care and ongoing psychiatric care (working closely with psychiatrists) as a team approach. I have also worked for 2.5 years as a clinician at our local ‘super jail,’ called Santa Rita Jail, predominately with inmates in “isolation” called administrative segregation. For 15 years I worked as an emergency response worker with Child Protective Services, doing interventions with families to keep children safe. My most recent job was working in the Crisis Response Unit of Alameda County, responding to emergency calls directly with our hotline to assess adults who were currently at risk for suicide or homicidal. Some adults were placed on a protective hold for their own protection and the protection of others. For 20 years prior to being in Northern California, I was working in LA County. There I worked in 6 psychiatric hospitals, two sub-acute psychiatric hospitals for adolescents: 9 residential treatment programs for children and adolescents (Clinician, Clinical Director and Administrator), 5 mental health clinics, and three private practices. I am currently seeking employment online in Telehealth as a therapist.
