My professional career began at a field station doing studies on PNW salmonid life history and population dynamics. From there I moved to front-line harvest management for Puget Sound Commercial Salmon Fisheries and also worked on Fraser River sockeye and pink salmon management. My next stop was as Environmental Manager for the state's fish hatcheries. This involved the acquisition of all environmental permits such as NPDES, water rights, Shorelines, and Hydraulics. The combination of work experience to that point led me to a deep interest, study, and publication on salmonid-based ecosystems, the value of spawning salmon to the ecosystem, and ways to restore the watersheds. This has since expanded to include all of the resources that either depend on salmonids or utilize them.
