After feeling isolated and exhausted from trying to do everything on my own, I knew there had to be another way. I was stuck in the mindset of “if it’s going to be, it’s up to me!” I was trying to create the perfect relationship, a thriving and fun career, a happy home, and a life filled with adventure. My identity became entangled in what I could do and what I thought God expected of me. When the actions I was taking failed, I thought I had let God down. As a Christian woman, I thought I wasn’t enough. I felt alone, empty, directionless, unfulfilled, and stuck.It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that I began seeking a new way to do things. The problem was the more I did, the worse I felt. A wise friend encouraged me to try just “being” instead. Be in God’s presence. Be your authentic self. Be honest about your feelings. Be unapologetically you before God. How terrifying! I decided to feel the fear, and do it anyway. I began telling God exactly how I felt and leaving space for Him to respond. And you know what’s wild? He actually did!Learning practical ways to listen to God, and how He specifically speaks to me was life changing. I now coach others on how to listen to and follow God’s direction for their life by coaching them to pay attention to His unique voice in their life.
