I did not choose the industry of hospitality, hospitality chose me. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Allied Health Sciences so my dream of becoming a nurse changed the moment I was hired as an AYS agent at the Amway Grand Plaza. My mindset of having a job to get me through college turned into a career that will last me a lifetime. I became a Front Office Supervisor a little over a year after I started at the hotel when I pushed myself to learn more about the Front Office as a whole. Wanting to expand my knowledge to a completely different department in which the Front Office works hand in hand with daily, I applied for my current position of Rooms Division Manager of Housekeeping. I believed it would benefit both the Front Office and Housekeeping if I was able to provide the insight of my previous position to my new position and vice versa. From the moment I started in Housekeeping, I have trained my staff as well as the management of the Front Office to understand the different worlds I have encompassed myself in for the past 4 years of working at the Amway Grand Plaza. I now have the skills to do both the jobs as well as so many others such as HR, Laundry, and Safety and Security. I love making new professional acquaintances.
