This is done through team workshops and fundraising. Throughout the year, I hold biweekly meetings with both my executive board and team of interns where we train in multiple areas, including language training, cultural sensitivity, animal restraint and clinic techniques training. I spent 2 weeks learning about veterinary healthcare in a global context in Cusco, Perú, shadowing local veterinarians and learning veterinary procedures, treatment courses, vaccinations and deworming. I greeted patients and their owners in spanish as they came into the clinic, facilitated check ins, measured basic vital signs including pulse, respiration rate, and others, administered rabies and distemper vaccinations, and vitamin injections.
