I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” If I could have kept the blissful innocence of wanting to become the next Beyonce, I’d still answer with that. Unfortunately for me, my voice is best kept to Disney karaoke. But well into adulthood, I still sometimes struggle to answer this. The reason isn’t because I don’t have specific interests or passions (if I could cuddle giant pandas for a living, I’d do that); it’s because I’ve had the opportunity to immerse myself into a number of different industries (Education, Food & Beverage, Entertainment - both established and start ups), and there are facets of each industry and position I’ve held that I’d love to mash together into one perfect career path!In all my professional roles, I've consistently become the swiss army knife within the organization. Whether adapting to structural changes, advancing in positions, or simply being seen as a reliable and adaptable team member, I have been exposed to several instances of learning by doing; and 8 years into my professional career, it’s become one of my biggest strengths. For a very long time, I allowed Imposter Syndrome to affect my confidence. I struggled to perceive new challenges as opportunities for knowledge and instead focused on doubting my capability to meet expectations. With time, plenty of new experiences, wins and failures, I have learned it’s okay to not know it all. It would actually be weird if I did.
