At the International Rescue Committee, I work to support the organization's mission in providing relief, protection, and resettlement services to refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflicts. As a Grants Coordinator, I support this mission by prospecting both private and public funding opportunities, developing proposals and budgets, and organizing sub award management and donor management. I work closely with all departments at the Oakland IRC office as well as regionally with the Northern California IRC teams to understand funding and programming priorities.

During my time at SHE-CAN, my daily duties included grant writing, fundraising strategy, database and grant timeline management, and cross-departmental collaboration. I was also in charge of donor relations and processing, using my understanding of CRMs (Salesforce), Microsoft Suite, Google Suite and Dropbox. I have authored grants for both corporate and private funders, grant amounts totaling to roughly $300K, curated presentation materials for potential donors and re-structured the processing systems. I helped to raise over $1 million in donations and participated in planning of annual fundraising gala, Revolution 2.0. I have also been able to attend the Grantsmanship Center Training Program in which I participated in a weeklong grant writing intensive on private and corporate grant writing.

Responsibilities include drafting and submitting grant proposals to relevant foundations in order to provide funding for Her Idea. Organizing resources within the Her Idea database to provide more comprehensive and efficient methods of grant research and fulfillment.

With the Virginia Tech Diplomacy Lab, I was on a team of researchers focusing on the reality of women's power in different global geographic regions, our group focusing specifically on sub-Saharan Africa. Using interviews and collaborative research techniques, we presented our findings to representatives from the US Foreign Service Institute in order to contribute to their global equity trainings.
