I am passionate about Asian American initiatives, and researching and securing funding for higher education opportunities. I have experience in these initiatives as a Research Project Assistant, a teacher, a mentor in Stony Brook University's Asian and Asian Pacific Islander Mentorship Network, and an IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) fellow. My background is in music and I love to use the skills I've acquired as a performer and a researcher, such as strong communication, creativity, and collaborative skills.I received my Ph.D. in Critical Music Studies at Stony Brook University this May 2024. My dissertation focuses on how East-Asian Americans of the last 50 years have used their music to engage with both intentional silence (for example, choosing not to speak) and forced marginalization in U.S. media, politics, and popular culture. My dissertation research and graduate studies were supported by an American Association for University Women (AAUW) Dissertation Completion Fellowship, a Turner Dissertation Fellowship, an IDEA Fellowship, a full teaching assistantship, and an Annette and Sol Goldstein Fellowship.
