My job as a tutor for Thinkster Math involves setting up recurring online zoom sessions with parents and their children. I assess each child's learning goals, confidence, and skills regarding their current level of math and sift through different ways to improve upon each category. I meet with students online either once or twice a week for 30-minute or 1-hour long sessions. We may discuss missed problems on a previously attempted worksheet, look over a new worksheet, or talk about upcoming assignments. I have about 20 students whom I see regularly each week. In addition to being a tutor, I am also an Onboarding Concierge which means I also conduct demo sessions for families. My duties regarding demo sessions are similar to my duties as a tutor, but I am also the family's first inclination of what to expect from the online program. I take the parents and student through what a tutoring session would generally be like, and I discuss learning objectives and best practices with the parent towards the end of the session. I also take diligent notes during the session as the next step in the process would be to match the family with a tutor.

Several times per week, I drive myself out to the home my student resides at during an agreed-upon time frame previously discussed with the parents. While the needs are different from student to student, the general course of action is about the same per 1-hour session. My main objective is helping the student achieve a productive and efficient study schedule that sets them up for turning in future assignments and not falling behind. Sometimes we're just focused on the general collection of upcoming homework and assignments, but my expertise and instruction primarily pertains to whatever math class the student is struggling with. My goal is to break down these specific topics to help students understand them on a more fundamental level rather than just receiving and accepting an answer.

My main responsibilities at guac y margys are crafting fresh margaritas and stocking the bar to make sure we have everything we need. If I am bartending, it is my job to stay at my well behind the bar so I can make drinks as quickly and efficiently as possible. If we are not too busy, it is also my responsibility to take orders for the guests sitting at the bar. Busy or not, I am focused on our guests and making sure that they have a great time at our bar. I am also responsible for garnishing drinks and keeping my bar area clean. When I am bar backing, it is my duty to make sure that the bartender does not run out of any tequila in the well. It is also my responsibility to replace and refill the bottle of lime juice with daily fresh squeezed lime juice.

My job at Netherworld is seasonal surrounding the month of October for Halloween. Some of the positions I’m put in at night involve me being strapped into a harness and being suspended from some sort of fixture that allows me to effectively scare the patrons that walk through the haunt each night. My favorite position is the bungee stunt where I stand up on a platform strapped into a waist harness suspended between two poles, and I jump down onto another platform and then out towards the patrons walking by. Since the haunted house is dark and equipped with intricate special effects, this particular stunt gives the convincing illusion that I am a monster flying out at them with the goal of “capturing” the guests. Additionally, it is my responsibility every night I’m cast to show up a couple hours before the haunt opens to take care of any costume and/or makeup routines my specific spot calls for that night. Working for Netherworld is a fun seasonal experience and probably feels the least like a job than anywhere I’ve been employed.

My main duties as a barista include crafting espresso drinks as well as smoothies and other juice concoctions. It is my responsibility to be knowledgeable about the different types of crafted espresso drinks from the amount of espresso to the time and temperature required to steam and froth milk. It is also my job to make sure I am fully stocked with cups, lids, flavor syrups, ice, etc. This also includes making sure the bar stays tidy and sanitized throughout my shift. Occasionally I take orders (including drive-thru orders) and handle money as well, but my main priorities involve making drinks.

I had a short seasonal gig to teach a high school front ensemble for the duration of a football season. It was my responsibility to show up before after-school rehearsals began in order to prepare for the rehearsal. Once the kids set up their instruments in the manner that they’re supposed to, I begin the rehearsal block with them. I would normally begin with some warm-up exercises to get everyone’s hands warm, and then move on to practicing the music for their marching band show. About once a week, the students were required to wheel their instruments down to the football field so the entire band could practice together as an ensemble. It was my duty to make sure the kids stayed on task and respectful while mastering their music in the full ensemble setting.

Over the summer, a day camp was run throughout the week by the academy from 8 A.M. - 6:30 P.M. My job as a camp counselor was to look over the group of children (generally about 10 - 20 kids) during the day and find activities for them to do. This rolled over into the school year in which the academy holds an after school care for basically the same group of kids. My duties are similar, if not identical to my duties as a summer camp counselor with less summer activities and a focus on homework as well.
