As a Clinical Research Assistant, I assisted in coordinating Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical trials investigating medications to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease in patients with Early Alzheimer’s Disease. I worked closely with a team of neurologists, nurse practitioners, and psychometricians specialized in memory disorders as they evaluated.

As a research assistant in the TCU FACES lab, I aided in running several studies investigating emotion regulation in children of various ages. I also transcribed interviews done with parents of autistic children for a study interested in spousal support and provided data entry and analysis support to graduate students.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

As an emergency department medical scribe, I worked in a fast-paced emergency department, constructing charts in real time that included patient histories, physical examinations, EKG interpretations, physician consults, patient rechecks, and lab and radiology results. I also generated numerous differential diagnoses for each patient based on the history.

Under Dr. Marlo Jeffries, I completed an independent research project investigating the effects of early life stage exposure to thyroid-inhibiting chemicals on immune system development in fathead minnows, a model organism frequently used for the screening of endocrine-disrupting compounds. I measured immunity-related gene expression in fathead minnow.

I served as a teaching assistant for several courses while at TCU. I spent two semesters as a TA for the lab portion of the Microbiology course, and assisted in leading labs and grading. During lab time, I served as a resource to the students for help with lab activities and also led review sessions prior to exams. I was also a TA for the Mammalian.

I began working at the TCU Music and Media Library during my first year of undergrad, and maintained my position until graduation. I provided assistance to students and faculty in locating research materials and processed materials being checked out or returned.

As a Clinical Intern at the Moncrief Cancer Institute, I rotated in several departments, including radiology, pharmacy, infusion center, clinic, and lab, which provided an in-depth view of modern cancer treatment, from detection to remission. I also attended company-wide case study meetings in which members of each department discussed patient treatment.

As an emergency department intern, I shadowed ED physicians throughout the summer as they evaluated and treated patients. I increased workflow by posting patient paperwork and assisting ED scribes and physicians as needed. Because of my experience as an intern, I developed an interest in emergency medicine as a specialty and began scribing in the same.
