Assist in laboratory function in relation to specimen and pre slide preparation process, specifically histology preparation and hospital specimen accessioning functions. Consistently surpass company performance requirements for minimum data entry and lab processing expectations. • Utilize various computer programs and systems to update and process patient data and information. Programs include Specimen Integrity System (SIS), LabCorp Lab System (LCLS) and Western Region Co-Path Live System. • Manually transcribe and data enter doctor’s orders for laboratory tests as they apply to specific patient’s sensitive/confidential information including test orders/test codes, diagnosis codes and clinical information. Physically compile, label and image all requisitions, specimens and X-rays after processing information. Prepare specimens for delivery to designated testing sites in lab facility according to test orders. • Ensure data entry and organization of specimen prior to accessioning according to guidelines and regulations, including temperature status of specimens upon receipt by the lab (room temperature, refrigerated or frozen). Handle all specimens in compliance with company regulations using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Specimens include biopsies, urine, serum, serum gels, plasma, stool, bone marrow, body fluids, tissue, paraffin blocks, calculi, sputum, semen, breath bags, thin preps, slides, swabs.• Maintain and update all tracking identifiers related to specimen status within the lab processing SRS system. Procedure includes unpacking, scanning and repackaging specimen to be processed to the appropriate designation. Prepare for outsourcing of specimens by scanning tracking slips of specimen into system.

Prepares laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Unpacks specimens from branches or ports and routes specimens by type to various staging areas. Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears. Aliquots sample for departments. Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and document problem specimens.
