As a senior at Wake Forest University, set to graduate in May 2025, I am majoring in Sociology with minors in Interdisciplinary Writing and African Studies. This interdisciplinary approach has allowed me to explore my place in society and express myself creatively through writing. My passion lies in creative nonfiction, where I weave factual information with personal narratives to create impactful stories.My academic journey has been a blend of exploring societal dynamics, cultural narratives, and self-expression. Courses such as Environmental Writing in the Anthropocene, Sociological Theory, and African Studies Seminar have deepened my understanding of how larger systems influence personal stories, making my writing both poignant and powerful. Through this exploration, I discovered the profound impact of creative nonfiction as a form of social justice and solidarity.Beyond academics, I am actively involved on campus in roles that shape my career aspirations. As a Teaching Assistant for the Summer Immersion Program, I mentor groups between 25 and 50 students, helping them find their creative spark and encouraging them to share their stories. This experience has inspired me to pursue a career as a professor. In my role as Vice President of Member Development for Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, I foster an environment of confidentiality and care for 250+ members, emphasizing the importance of supportive communities.After graduating, I aim to attend graduate school to focus on creative nonfiction, integrating my sociological and African studies background to enhance my storytelling techniques. My goal is to advance my ability to tell stories that matter and inspire change.I am eager to connect with like-minded individuals, professionals, and academics who share my passions.
