Mechanistic Pharmacology and Toxicology (MPT) - I perform many different scientific assays to assess different variables associated with drug development for the mechanistic pharmacology and toxicology group within the larger DMPK group. These include ELISA, MSD (analysis of cytokines, inflammatory/injury markers, liver health markers, etc), DNA and RNA extraction and quantification, qPCR, protein quantification. Some experience using a mass spec and related software to analyze compounds.

Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group - I am proficient in many rat and mouse cannulations, soft tissue surgeries (sx), stereotaxic (brain) sx, necropsies, and organ/sample collection. Comfortable training others in surgery. Have traveled out of state/country to train others various surgical techniques.BASi (Inotiv) developed the first in vivo automated sampling system (Culex) which helps to streamline blood collection and drug infusion which our facility has the ability to utilize to run experiments to determine drug PK's. I set up and perform experiments using the Culex, but am also familiar with manual sampling and dosing. I also perform managerial duties such as:-Ordering-Inventory management-Writing SOPs-Generating reports-Creating posters-Presenting at conferences-Writing social media and blog posts for BASi Inotiv). Finally, I assist in product development by working with the engineering team.

I perform cannulations and soft tissue surgery on rats and mice. These surgeries include jugular vein cannulation, femoral vein and artery cannulation, carotid artery cannulation, bile duct cannulation, portal vein cannulation, gastric cannulation, ovarioectomies and castrations on live animal models for preclinical research. Additional skills include anesthetizing via injection or gas and post-operative care and analgesic administration. Am very comfortable handling rodents. Am very familiar with surgical instruments and using sterile technique while performing surgery.

Inserted blood catheters for IV dosing on cats/dogs, inserted urinary catheters for urine sampling (dogs), drew blood for sampling on cats/dogs (jugular, femoral, saphenous), analyzed stained blood, ear, skin, and fecal samples under a microscope, performed dental cleanings, surgical assisting the Veterinarian, administering vaccines, customer service relations including but not limited to phone calls, scheduling, and other computer notes, entering in detailed patient notes, discussing disease states/processes and treatment plans with clients, client/doctor relay, taking various types of samples, performed radiographs on dogs/cats, administered various medications
