I shadowed Dr. Kenneth Showalter at Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA. While working there (during the fall term of my senior year at Washington and Lee), I assisted Dr. Showalter in his day-to-day activities. I interviewed patients, assisted Dr. Showalter in evaluations of competency to stand trial for individuals in the local jails, and developed a presentation of my own to use in leading a group therapy class at the end of term.
