I currently work at Spindletop Center as a Mental Health Social Worker. I work in a specialized program designed to help people with the following diagnoses find and maintain employment: Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression. I train individuals on the skills they'll need to find and keep employment including, job searching, accessing community resources, communication, grooming and hygiene, application, interviewing, and coping skills. I work particularly well with individuals with criminal backgrounds. I also market our program through scheduled appointments with employers and simply going door to door. I provide advocacy and on-the-job training as allowed by employers and serve as liaison between worker and employer if and when problems arise on the job. I maintain working relationships with individuals, family, friends, doctors, and probation/parole officers and other important people in their lives and work with them on life skills when needed, including housing, health management, budgeting, etc. We strive to serve the whole person, as healthy people make stable workers!

As an assistant service manager or ASM at HEB, I worked with team of about 10 ASM's maintaining the service department which included the cashiers, baggers, parking lot attendants, bookkeeping, business center and gas station workers. I trained workers on effective bagging and cashiering techniques as well as customer service skills. I handled customer issues and complaints and worked in administration with the hiring process as needed. I also managed the inventory for the service department, making orders and ensuring that the department was fully stocked with merchandise at all times.
