Work in Dr. Atkinson's lab to complete my honors thesis, "Computationally Predicting a Synaptic NF-ⲕB Protein Interaction Network." During the course of my thesis, I have grown very proficient in programming languages including R, Python, and Shell, and I have authored all of the scripts used for computational data analysis/visualization within the lab. I also built a web-tool to assist in protein-interaction prediction, called the Protein-Protein Interaction Identifier (PPID). I am also in the process of preparing a first author publication for PPID.

Teach students how to perform laboratory procedures, lab safety, and data analysis methods using RStudios.

Received a fellowship to fund my research over the summer. Using the fellowship, I am developing a web tool to predict protein domain interactions, and continuing my thesis where I am computationally predicting/experimentally substantiating a protein interaction network involving NF-kB protein DifB.

Attend lectures, facilitate discussion sessions, grade assignments, write exams, and host office hours for Dr. Barrick Foundations of Biochemistry for Biochemistry Majors Course (BCH339F)

Perform behavioral assays using D. melanogaster model organism to evaluate differential expression of associative learning and light sensitivity. Perform genome wide association analysis with different DGRP lines. Prepare posters and manuscript for oral presentation and publication. My DGRP GWAS research project won the ‘Rising Researcher’ award among 400+ other submissions at UT Austin’s Undergraduate Research Forum.

Assist in lectures, facilitate discussion sessions, hold office hours, and grade papers, quizzes, and exams for Dr. Engler’s BIO 325 large class of over 300 students.

Conduct MS and Long-COVID research with the Melamed Lab in hopes of uncovering methods to optimize patient quality of life. Work with both human study participants and mice model organisms. Complete my honors thesis that will focus on gut microbial influences on neurological manifestations of long-COVID symptoms.

Triaged patients, scribed, updated medical charts, managed patient prescriptions, submitted prescription/procedure prior authorizations, and worked collaboratively with pain management physicians/practitioners to provide effective and compassionate care for patients.

TA for UT Austin’s sequence of honors genetics courses, BIO315H and BIO325H, with Dr. Rodenbusch and Dr. Linder respectively. Managed and taught a discussion session of students, graded quizzes, exams, and papers, and facilitated communication between students and professors.

Perform experiments to create transgenic yeast strains with the human H2AX gene and test phenotypic differences that result from humanization.

Performed immunoassays and data analysis with the Britz Lab to identify molecular differences in hippocampal brain tissue following stroke incident. Presented my research to Houston Methodist’s Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery, and presented a poster at Houston Methodist’s Summer Research Symposium. Attended seminars to improve my communication, planning, laboratory, and clinical skills. Merit scholarship recipient.
