During this time, the quick-service food industry in the United States was facing a dilemma as many restaurants struggled to hire and retain a full staff. Over the months, I worked as a middle manager in various short-staffed locations, aiming to lower the chance of employee burnout, and providing emotional support and high morale to encourage employee retention. This role consisted of: - providing one-on-one training with newly hired staff- acting as a bridge between the employees, upper management, and restaurant owners- assisting general managers with brainstorming projects and goals for the restaurant- communicating knowledge between numerous restaurant locations - providing quick solutions for abrupt problems caused by interruptions in the supply chain Each location was different as they had their own preferred strategy of operation, machinery, technology, and demographic of customers and employees, which required me to be versatile. For example, flexibility was necessary as some days I worked at Middlefield Dairy Queen, which was home to the fourth-largest Amish population in the United States. Other days, I worked at a location in Mentor Great Lakes Mall, which attracted customers from surrounding cities and diverse backgrounds.

I was chosen specifically for this seasonal role because of my long experience working for Cleveland Dairy Queen and my enthusiasm for charity. As the Social Responsibility (Media) Coordinator, I actively motivated employees and customers of over 30 stores to participate in Miracle Treat Day. Miracle Treat Day is an annual charity event that involves Dairy Queen raising funds for University Hospitals. During 2018, I organised a Blizzard sale fundraiser at the Rainbows Babies and Children's Hospital, represented Cleveland Dairy Queen on live radio, and created a reward scheme for the employees who raised the most donations. We raised over $141,000 for Rainbows Babies and Children's Hospital in 2018 as a result!
