I earned my MSW from Fordham University in May of 2020. I passed the ASWB exam in November of 2020 and received my LSW almost a year later in October of 2021. I’m currently working at Sunny Days Sunshine Center as an ABA therapist with children on the autism spectrum. I have learned so much from this job already and it has helped me pinpoint whatI want from my career in social work. I gained incredible experiences during both my undergrad career at Stockton University and graduate career at Fordham University, which have made me fall so much more in love with social work. In undergrad I worked with Active Minds on Stockton’s campus to spread awareness of mental health by compiling screenings and hosting therapeutic, informative events in hopes to prevent suicide, eating disorders, etc. I also co-facilitated a supper group for students on the autism spectrum. My graduate internship was an amazing experience as I was exposed to the clinical world of social work at Hyacinth. I facilitated multiple support groups for individuals living with HIV /AIDS. These groups were so healing to many of the clients I worked with . I gained a lot of knowledge and experience from Hyacinth that I will carry with me not only as I start my career as a social worker but as I grow personally. I believe my past experiences have truly shaped me into the woman I today and I know it will have an incredible impact on my future career as a social worker. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.
