The Peace Corps is a United States government volunteer program working to provide social and economic development abroad through technical assistance, while promoting mutual understanding between Americans and populations served. I served in Timor-Leste (or East Timor), a small Southeast Asian nation. My primary work partner was C.U. HIKHMOR, a savings and loan cooperative primarily made up of local farmers.
