Career Technical Education (CTE) Teacher in the Patient Care Pathway helping high school students discover their career aspirations, think critically, and learn about health, safety, accountability, and professionalism in healthcare, athletics, and daily life. Our sports medicine program has grown to include three scaffolding courses and a health care internship for students, a student-lead campus organization, and medical support for more than 700 student athletes each year.

Otay Ranch High School

Created and implement the sports medicine program to provide care for more than 700 student athletes and provide a work-based learning site for high school and collegiate students studying in the field of sports medicine. Some key components include:-administering injury prevention programs to individual athletes, groups, and teams.-providing emergency medical care on site-creating and revising Emergency Action Plans for athletic venues-administering clinical evaluations-delivering therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation intervention-providing referrals to appropriate medical facility -providing pre and post operative care for strength, proprioception, and mobility-administering concussion education, baseline tests and post injury aassessments-supervising and mentoring students on internship and observation

Temporary contractor position, providing health screens for infection control related to Covid-19 for employees of NASSCO

Worked to recognize, prevent, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries. Performed manual therapy modalities including proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF)to athletes. Mentored two younger students. Sport Assignments: NCAA Division 1A Football, volleyball, baseball, and men’s and women’s soccer, tennis, and crew teams.

Worked as a physician extender alongside orthopedic surgeons and physicians assisting with appointments. Observed three orthopedic surgical operations. Administered and supervised up to six athletes’ therapeutic rehabilitation exercises concurrently in the athletic training room. Properly documented information using SOAP notes. Sport Assignments: NCAADivision 1 water polo, swim, baseball, basketball, cross country, and SDSU club teams
