I managed the summer activities of two 11-year-old girls and their 14-year-old brother. I coordinated and provided transportation, prepared meals, planned activities, and made sure they were safe and enjoying their summer!

I supervised children ages 8 to 14. I facilitated the kids' character development of the YMCA values - respect, responsibility, honesty, caring, and faith. As a day camp counselor I planned and oversaw activities such as arts and crafts, snack and meal times, organized games, basic skills training and drills for various sports, and field trips. I maintained certifications in basic water rescue, basic first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED), and blood borne pathogen precaution and response. The camp counselors collaborated to ensure a fun, safe, and stimulating environment for the kids. I also maintained a written log of all incidents requiring first aid or disciplinary action and communicated with the parents of the kids regarding any incidents, concerns, and positive or negative behavior.

I received certifications in lifeguarding, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), oxygen administration, automated external defibrillation (AED), blood borne pathogen precaution and response, and child sexual abuse prevention. While on duty I visually monitored the pools to ensure water safety, enforced pool policies and regulations, aided distressed swimmers, and performed first aid. During breaks I tested pool water samples to determine chemical levels and maintained a log of the test results.
