My interest in community and home ownership led me to pursue a degree in Real Estate Urban Land Economics at the UW-Madison Business School. After graduating, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a development firm in transforming an old rug factory in Oshkosh, WI into over 50 units of affordable housing, incorporating a nutrition center and childcare facilities into the building design.Shortly thereafter, I made the decision to undergo a 200-hour yoga teacher training program, aiming to establish a deeper connection with self-healing and my local community. The practice of mindful movement serves as a constant reminder that personal growth and change are inherent in life. This mindset now influences the way I engage as a teacher and with my real estate clients, as I strive to assist individuals in finding a sense of home within themselves and within their residences, recognizing that their homes are among their most valuable assets.Drawing from the mindfulness practices acquired through my work as a yoga teacher and my knowledge of regenerative real estate principles, I approach conversations with my community in a unique manner. Driven by my curiosity, I envision a future where communities are tightly knit, where neighbors are familiar faces and a helping hand is always close by. Throughout history, humans have recognized the importance of community for survival, and I aim to remind people that by reaching out, they can find support and connection, even in a bustling city like Seattle. One book that profoundly impacted me was "Eviction" by Matthew Desmond, which takes place in Milwaukee, WI, a city near my hometown of Kewaskum, WI. Desmond's work highlights the correlation between landlord ownership, increased crime rates, higher mortality rates, and limited access to fresh food. This insight fuels my passion when assisting first-time homebuyers, as I strive to help them find creative pathways towards homeownership. Regenerative Real Estate is a process, a practice. The way I show up for my mind and body is a practice. I always remind myself that time is finite and I want to feel at home in my body and my home.
