I started with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in February 2018 as a research technician in the Meat and Carcass Quality division. I am one of the certified beef graders that is responsible for grading the research carcasses that pass through our abattoir. In 2017 I finished a Master of Science Degree at the University of Saskatchewan, with my thesis focusing on the prevalence, burden and species of gastrointestinal nematodes in breeding-age dairy heifers in Canada. In 2015 I graduated with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science. During my undergraduate program I worked as an equipment sales associate at an Alberta John Deere dealership during the summer months. I have worked as a general labourer and ranch hand on my family cow-calf beef farm west of Lacombe, Alberta, and at several equine performance facilities for many years, and am familiar with various kinds of livestock. I am passionate about agriculture, and this is what ultimately shaped my post-secondary education. I was a long time Alberta 4-H member, with projects in horsemanship and livestock judging, and have been involved with the sport of ringette for 25 years as a player, coach, skills evaluator and referee in Alberta and Saskatchewan. In whatever spare time I have, I enjoy working with my three dogs and three horses.
