About Haley Rutherford

My professional objective is to work with a socially- and environmentally-responsible and culturally aware organization. I would like to engage in the empowerment of citizens and strengthening of community, in a team-oriented environment. In addition, I have plans to create my own after-school garden program focused on body empowerment and social justice and a middle school backpacking organization. Work at the community level is something that I am very interested in. I believe in the power a community can hold to make changes that they want to see. I envision myself helping to build that sense of collaboration and cohesiveness in communities anywhere I go to find green solutions to community-identified concerns. My background is in environmental education and I am committed to environmental justice, food literacy, edible education, civic ecology, social equity, community engagement, ecotherapy, and urban education. I would like to pursue the field of environmental justice and civic ecology in terms of community building and am currently working towards gaining experience in different realms of education.Link to school garden program: https://haleyrp.wixsite.com/care3project
