I worked with children with language, articulation, voice, fluency and social disorders and delays. It was a fulfilling position where I learned a lot.

My job responsibilities at Valir included working with patients with Dysphagia (swallowing disorder), cognitive disabilities, and overall helping aid patients to get back to their former life.

At The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital I was able to work along side Speech Pathologist in all parts of the hospital. I worked in the Pediatric Medical Rehab Unit with children who have suffered form some time of CVA, TBI, or debilitating other injury/ medical condition. Here I worked to help kid's eat by mouth by aiding in their dysphagia diets, help with speech language and cognitive issues, and aid in any voice respiratory issues at hand. The goal for these patients was to get them able to go back home and be successful. In the Complex Care Unit I was able to work with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to aid in communication with children who were unable to communicate by voiced language alone due to illness. Here we also worked on dysphasia diet guideline to help patients get to a more normal diet. In the complex care unit children were usually at the hospital for a longer stay due to complex medical condition. In the Outpatient Clinic I worked with a variety of client's with articulation goals to AAC goal to dysphagia diet guidelines.
