My name is Haley Springer and I am currently a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for Bailey Square Surgery Center. I manage a team of over 25 nurses coordinating patient care, workflow, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience throughout their surgical stay. In my previous postion as an ICU nurse at St. David's Medical Center, I joined and became the leader for our unit-based council for the unit. I have led unit wide changes including adding quiet time hours for patients to rest to help reduce ICU delirium. I have been a preceptor leading new nurses to lay a solid foundation for themselves in their clinical skills and patient interactions. I continued my professional education with training in ECMO and received our unit promotion to Critical Care Advanced nurse after taking all device courses and caring for the patients with these advanced devices including, but not limited to CRRT, TTM, SLED, Impella, VADs, IABPs, and immediate post-op CABGs on our unit. This past year I passed my CCRN to become certified as a critical care nurse from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.My first degree is from Texas State and is in computer information systems. I chose to change career paths because my heart was pulled toward nursing. I have a passion for serving others and making an impact in other people's lives. Upon graduation in May 2021, I began my nursing career with a residency program to learn and grow as a new graduate nurse. I have developed my clinical nursing skills during some of the toughest times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
