Being efficient saves money, but more importantly it's better for the planet. If you don't need to make the computation, don't do it because it wastes energy. Think about the number of computations happening globally every second. It's a lot of energy, use it wisely.Software that has product documentation that can allow any reasonably knowledgeable person to read and understand what the application does and why it's doing it.Can AI meet all of those requirements? It can't. So until it can, humans are going to be writing code for companies who value quality. It will be apparent which companies go one way versus the other.

This was my first job as a programmer. The company was a mess. It was the dot-com boom. The company burnt through $50 million in 6 months and that was the end of it. I did meet some great people and did learn some stuff.
