I work with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship problems, co-dependency, stress and other problems. I help people develop coping skills and gain greater insight into core issues that may be impeding their success and happiness. I believe therapy is a collaborative process where the client and therapist can work together as a team to create a healing path of life. I help clients explore their strengths and potential while also working towards their meaningful goal. I focus on all aspects of the self: heart, mind, body, and spirit while empowering clients grow into their strongest version of themselves. I have worked with both individuals and groups. I offer supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment. I strive to create a warm, open space for exploration and support to help my clients reach their goals. I integrate a combination of therapeutic approaches such as psychodynamic, mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). My areas of interest and specialty include general mental health, (i.e., depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal relationships, multicultural & identity concerns). I have worked with diverse populations, (i.e., different race, ages, religions, sexual orientations, and beliefs). I believe the key to emotional health, and happiness is nurturing the authentic self, the source of one's primary needs and feelings. Change, pain, and uncertainty are inevitable parts of life. I believe we can find meaning in our experiences, learn to be more present, and approach life from a place of acceptance. We can start to replace judgement with compassion, improving our relationships with both self and others. Your story deserves to be expressed. I can help you learn to connect with your body, where your most personal stories are held, to process what they might be telling you. I learned to speak 5 languages (i.e., Somali, Arabic, Amharic, Oromo, and English). I am driven and passionate about helping others overcome their mental health challenges.
