About Halim Choueiry • Ph.D.
Lebanese by birth, halim is a design thinking strategist and advocate of creative learning. Besides his academic studies, and the various leading academic positions, he also served as IcoD—formally known as Icograda: the international council of graphic design associations—vice president for 6 years, which allowed him to delve into the world of design and gain a worldwide experience like no other. In addition to design consultancy, halim co-created and contributed to Comma, a monthly Pan-Arab design publication within the realm of ArabAd, with various design focuses including creative economies and design policies. His dedication to bring sustainable changes and how the design process can be at the core of life and living, lead him to contribute to the establishment and consultancy of Commune—a student based Lebanese NGO— serving as a platform for individual creative growth. Further down the road, halim established hbr the first FabLab and creative platform in Lebanon, providing a self-sustaining place where design awareness and understanding of various disciplines and qualities are explored through collaboration between creative individuals, innovative events, activities, and products.halim has won several national and international design competitions and featured work and design articles in various design and refereed publications. He also has an extensive experience in judging student competitions and design/advertising awards. His involvement in international events includes conducting and presenting at design conferences, students’ workshops, and chairing Creative Nights—an interactive meet-up series held throughout the Arab countries.Halim has always looked out for the quality in designing life experiences, as well as opening new doors of communication and collaboration with fellow colleagues and industry leaders, leading to build substantial opportunities and successful design endeavours. halim is currently investing his knowledge in developing a new learning system for creative and innovative minds.
