My role at Picton has been multi-faceted, as well as overseeing the internal desktop support and infrastructure, my role as part of the management team is to bring the benefits of the technology we have to all parts of the businessMy initial project was the ground up development of a custom system to print rental video covers. This project started in 2007 and involves over 35 variable fields, printed on in excess of 250000 video covers on a monthly basis. The system handles store details, title details and brand templates, it develops print ready files, hands them off to a digital press and then informs the accounting system of invoice amounts. Whilst this project is in decline it is still used daily and produces a profitable print job for the business.In addition to this project I have overseen the implementation of EFI Pace MIS, DSF web to print and Metrix Imposition (first live site in Australia) and currently working on the integration of Pace, Prinergy and other systems into a full JDF workflow.Picton has been able to remain sucessful in a very tough market because of the investments made into technology both MIS/W2P and modern efficient equipment. Data means we know what is happening in the business and as a management team can make informed decisions as well as being able to add value to our clients work
