I led a 60+ engineering team through ideation and creation of the new Slack Platform. Owned the foundational developer APIs and features used by customers and third party partners to integrate with the Slack product. Maintained focus, execution, and engineer retention through an acquisition by Salesforce. Led the evolution of engineering promotion process.

I led reliability at Slack. My teams were SRE, reliability tooling, monitoring, and database reliability engineering. Delivered strategic reliability and scale projects to keep Slack shipping fast with lots of 9s, like getting more teams oncall with better alerts and metrics. Dramatically improved incident management and post-incident reviews.

Advisor for non-profit startup Upsolve, who are lowering the incredible barrier to bankruptcy so folks can get a fresh-start. Early on I advised on architecture, logging, monitoring, deployment, and metrics. Later I advised on hiring, managing, prioritizing, and creating a robust long term road map.

Reported to the executive director of 18F, led the 60+ person engineering organization over dozens of agile project teams. Part of the 18F leadership team. Create policies and best practices for development, mainly on open source Python, Ruby, and Javascript projects. Ensured that engineering has a robust network of leaders by promoting supervisors and subject matter leads. Promoted diversity and inclusion in the engineering organization and 18F overall.

Reporting to the CTO, managed the organization's 20+ software and QA engineers, and 10+ contractors over 6 teams. Managed a $2.5M budget. Mentored team members in their projects and careers. Set policies and best practices for development at PLOS, mainly on open source Java, Ruby on Rails, and Python projects. Influence on overall architecture and technical direction. Also a member of the Agile Enablement Team which is led Agile success across the organization. Partnered with heads of Product and Project on roadmaps. Partnered with IT and Operations on day to day operations and operational capacity planning.
