Managing Director
CurrentHalley McCallum founded The BTS Group in 1988; it has grown dynamically as a business under pinned by "if we agree a contract we will deliver that contract as agreed". He insists delivery is based on a highly skilled, competent, well led and motivated workforce under pinned by the trust between bts staff and their clients.Hal McCallum recognised that his primary clients, Distribution Network Operators (DNO) are measured by amongst other things, their Customer experiances as measured by Ofgem. In understanding this staff are trained in customer engagement; a bespoke data capture system has allowed both his management team and his clients real time access to completion of work.Halley McCallum recognised that there is a need to service all internal and sub-contractor equipment to this end a wholesale/retail outlet has been set up, servicing and selling brands such as Sthil and Husqvarna to the Tree industry. Adding to this need for quality bts owns and operates a fully functioning fleet, with a full spectrum of vehicles from MEWPs to Track Chippers to complete all tasks asked of them by their clients, with the ability to hire in specialised equipment as required. Our core focus is vegetation management, low voltage to transmission. The Group carries out all forms of accredited (NPTC) land based training for direct and contracting staff. Halley recognises that training new staff, encouraging young people to get in to this industry is very important, not only for bts but for the industry as a whole. Bts has developed an approved fast track training programme allowing new starters to become qualified and be a fully functioning part of a delivery team within 6 months. This is enhanced by a product related pay scheme, with no compromise for safety.Growing from 2 in 1993 now employing over 200 staff today, we operate and manage tree teams across the country from Essex to Aberdeenshire, from Suffolk to Staffordshire. Covering over 100,000km of overhead power line.
