bts was founded in 1988 as Broadleaf Tree Specialists with just two staff and now currently has over 450 including sub-contractors. Our ethos remains: everyone must go home safe at the end of a day’s work, this has held true from the first day I started the company. If we agree a contract we deliver the contract, it matters not whether it’s a domestic job or a major client in the utility sector - primary clients being Distribution Network Operators (DNOs). The regulator, OFGEM, measures the success of DNOs against criteria that includes Customer Minutes Lost (CML/CI) and Broad Customer Measures. Hal and bts have over the year proven to be very good at achieving these measures.Over the 30 years in business Hal has bought various companies to increase bts skill set and offerings to their clients. This has included an overhead line business, scaffolding business and most recently a traffic management company. Currently our clients include UK Power Networks, Western Power Distribution, Scottish Power, Scottish and Southern. In addition to a contract delivery operation, bts provides vocational training and a service centre for the industry and wider domestic market. We have grown from our Suffolk roots to become a principal contractor with a blue-chip client working from East Anglia to now cover the whole of the UK.tbf scaffolding has 2 depots working for house builders, Cambridge University and other clients coving all manner of scaffolding. The business runs 12 lorries and has in excess of 35 scaffolders.tbf Traffic works from Needham Market and has 2 satellite depots, Littleport and Radlett. In 2018 Hal and his fellow shareholders sold the whole Group to RSK Environmental, and continue to work full time running all operations on their behalf.
