Health Communication Specialist
CurrentServes as Writer/Editor for the National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) Health Communication Science Office (HCSO). Develops and promotes health communication products, supports internal and external communications, and provides counsel to center leadership to amplify messaging in support of program priorities. Primary communications technical advisor for harm reduction, correctional health, and syringe services programs (SSPs), including the Appalachian Influence and Community Partners in Harm Reduction social media influencer programs.• Serves as center manager for the Digital First Asset Tool (DFAT), responsible for training staff on taxonomy (e.g., keywords, tagging), ALT text, 508 compliance, personally identifiable information (PII), and copyright rules.• Chiefly responsible for image selection, ALT text, and captioning for NCHHSTP website in relation to 2024 CDC.gov relaunch (Clean Slate). Researched, composed, and cleared content for major sections of the NCHHSTP website, including the About NCHHSTP, NCHHSTP Careers, Correctional Health, and World AIDS Day pages.• Served as Social Media Lead for NCHHSTP/HCSO from 2020 to 2023, working closely with NCHHSTP Director Jonathan Mermin to prepare scripts and develop his social media presence, resulting in a 20 percent increase in engagement.• Since 2021, has served on the NCHHSTP Office of the Director (OD) Equity Change Team, coordinating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training and activities on behalf of the center. • Developed and executed the comms plan for NCHHSTP's first-ever voluntary sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) survey of NCHHSTP employees, garnering more than a 60 percent response rate.
