I founded a blog in 2016 to advocate for equity in education in Seattle and elsewhere, and quickly established an authentic, impactful community voice built on a commitment to anti-racism and environmental protection. I earned and managed grant funding to support this work from 2016-22.Through persuasive writing, offline activism, effective policy advocacy and coalition-building, accomplishments include:Reach: more than 120,000 pageviews from 89,000 visitors in first 5 yearsImpact: quoted or featured in The Seattle Times, The Stranger, Seattle Magazine, Seattle’s Child Magazine, Seattle Weekly (see earned media portfolio), with evident influence on school board votes, superintendent search processes, and Seattle’s education conversationCommunity: recruited, managed and edited regular contributions from local parents, students and education activists, and was in frequent contact with people in the community to hear their issuesRecognition: selected works from annual “Black History Today” series to be featured as exhibit in Northwest African-American Museum in 2024

Led program of wrap-around support for cohort of 93 kids through their high school years. Focused on academics and college access, became part of the community and did whatever was needed. I love to talk about it.

Worked on all aspects of communications, public and media relations for independent professional baseball team while in college. Researched statistical trends and produced detailed daily game notes, provided color commentary for home radio broadcasts, and wrote daily game recaps and press releases.
