At Associates in Ophthalmology, I conduct the preliminary examination before the patient encounters the doctor. I pre-screen them by checking their vision, employing the autorefractor machine, dilating their pupils, checking their pressure, taking a high-definition photo of the eye, etc. This position has been great for gaining direct patient care experience and has served as an exciting introduction to the field of ophthalmology.

As the President of the Student Governing Association at Rutgers-Newark, it is my responsibility to amplify the voices and concerns of the student body. I listen to these concerns and create initiatives to address them and enhance the student experience. I then meet with administrators and faculty members who advise my executive board and me on how to enact such initiatives. I then delegate the tasks necessary to achieve our goal. This role has provided me with experience in delegation, communication, professionalism, and time management.

In the Infant Cognition Center, I transcribe confidential home footage of infants and their interactions with fellow household members. I then scrutinize this data, along with previous studies, to draw parallels and make proposals relating to infant development. During the spring semester, I presented my study "The Impact of Sibling Presence on Emotional Input For Infants" at Research Week.

In the Office of Admissions, I assist prospective students and their families as they navigate the daunting college admissions process. I train our Scarlet Ambassador team, who provide tours to prospective students and answer various inquiries regarding our school, mission, or application. This position has provided me with a leadership opportunity in which I prioritize teamwork, transparency, and education with my colleagues. I have also sharpened my public speaking skills, often speaking to large masses of individuals ranging from 25-50 people at a time while also sharing my experiences on admissions-related panels.

During my shadowing experience, I was guided by my mentor Dr. David Biokff regarding the inspection of suspicious lesions during skin exams. We conducted a plethora of biopsies to form a definitive diagnosis on our preconceived suspicions. Many times I had the opportunity to assist Dr. Bikoff during the curettage procedure by providing him with the necessary equipment and applying pressure to the lesion. I also greeted patients and led them into the exam room amicably.

As the School of Arts & Sciences-Newark Senator, I advocated for the needs of students enrolled in SASN. One of the areas I felt we lacked was the promotion of our research opportunities. Therefore, through productive collaboration with the Dean of the school, we were able to develop a digital location in which all research opportunities across various departments could be found. This made accessing such desired opportunities facile. I collaborated with several other senators on their respective initiatives, which ultimately inspired me to run for president the following academic year.
